January 12th, 2009 — Events
The evening of 9th January was one to be remembered. The Lionel Wendt was packed to the rafters and the audience was treated to 2 hours of world class opera singing by Kishani Jayasinghe.
The evening comprised of 4 sections - songs of the world, Mozart’s Heroines, Puccini’s Heroines and contemporary favourites.
Kishani was nothing short of a star and her collaborator, Chris Glynn, a pleasure to watch and hear on the grand piano.
At the end of the performance, Kishani and Chris received a standing ovation from an audience which was so moved by their performance that the applause seemed to last forever.
Kishani said at the end of the evening “I am so privileged to perform in front of my home crowd. Of all the places I have performed, Sri Lanka will always be my favourite”.
